Amherst, N.S., Sept. 11 - Dr. Carrittee ALLEN of Bayfield, N.B. and brother of ex-Mayor Dr. ALLEN, died here at his brother's residence this eve. from peritonitis, age 31. During his brother's illness, deceased had been looking after his brother's practice here. For upwards of three weeks he had been feeling unwell, but usually of rugged health thought nothing of his indisposition until yesterday while in town and he then developed serious symptoms of appendicitis. An operation was decided upon and last night Dr. D.C. Allen, assisted by Drs. Carter, Port Elgin, Bliss and McQueen performed the operation. The appendix was found to contain an abscess which caused peritonitis and complications. He was the son of the late Strang ALLEN of Bayfield and was unmarried. He graduated about three years ago from Jefferson College. Only ten days ago, while crossing from Cape Tormentine in a 12 foot boat to Cape Traverse with Miss WALKER, a gale sprang up and after some hours of toil had to land at Georgetown, he then having a narrow escape from drowning. The remains will be taken to Bayfield tomorrow for interment.
