The Marsh Road Murder - On Tuesday morn., James CULBERT who stood charged with being an accessory to the murder of Francis TATTON on the Marsh Road near the cottage of Robert JARDINE, Esq. on night of 14th July and who, since the coroner's inquest, has been out on bail, was placed in the dock at the City Court House to take his trial. - Acquitted ... SMITH, the man supposed to have struck the death blow, prisoner and another were in company at the house of Mrs. HAY on the Marsh Road where deceased and a woman named Ellen MACDONALD came in to get drink. The man and woman left and walked down the road. They were afterwards followed by the three men and the next fact was the death of Tatton.
