Missing! from his family since Tuesday night, 2nd April, John BURNS, late of Boar's Head Settlement, Portland Parish (St. John) On that night he travelled in company with a man of the name of BRITTAIN (who lives at Long Reach) from St. John as far as John McCOSKEY's tavern in said settlement (opposite the Brothers) where Brittain remained for the night and where the said Burns detained about half an hour and then departed for home, which was quite convenient about 8 o'clock, perfectly sober according to the testimony of McCoskey and Brittain before Robert Payne, J.P. He has not since been heard of, nothwithstanding the indefatigable exertions of the settlers in that neighbourhood for several days, left widow, two children.
