Coroner's Inquest: Held in Chatham (Northumberland Co.), Thursay last, before M. Cranney, Esq., Coroner, on view of the body of George GRAY of P.E.I. He was discovered on the morning of that day, lying on the shore, in rear of the premises occupied by M. BURNS, as a tavern, with a severe contusion on the head. He was not dead when taken up, but expired a short time afterwards. The case appearing very suspicious, Dr.BENSON and Dr.PALLEN were called in, who examined his head and give their opinion, that the deceased came to his death by a blow inflicted on the skull, which was dreadfully fractured. A great number of witnesses were then examined, but nothing was elicited further, than that the unhappy man was at a ball the preceding night, at Burn's, and had not been seen by any person present after 11 o'clock. The Jury having nothing before them that could in the slightest manner criminate any person and supposing that he might have come to his death by falling over the bank, which is very steep, after a long consultation, returned a verdict of Accidental Death... We understand the deceased has a wife and family in Cocagne (Kent Co.)
