On Saturday last at Hampton Ferry (Kings Co.) Alexander STEWART while under the influence of Ether had one of his legs amputated above the knee by Dr. SHARP in the presence of several gentlemen. The patient was only a few moments insensible and when he came to said he had not experienced any pain whatsoever and would hardly be convinced that he had lost his leg until it was held up to his sight.
