About 11 o'clock Saturday forenoon, Mrs. Fred L. HEA, who resides at 120 Orange St., Saint John, heard a heavy fall in the adjoining house., No. 122 occupied by Thomas JOHNSTON, a teamster, his wife and a daughter Ellen Elizabeth JOHNSTON. In the afternoon Coroner Earle empannelled a jury composed of David S. STEWART, Calvin POWERS, Roland BUNTING, Daniel COUGLE, John BARNABY, John FERGUSON and Patrick CONDON and an inquest was held. The mother of the deceased is between 70 and 80 years of age and has been for some time in feeble health. She said that two months or more ago, whose age was 30 years, became insane. Thomas Johnston said that his daughter was a member of the Methodist Church. From the appearance of the body, it is conjectured that the unfortunate woman hanged herself to a baluster near the head of the stairs. (see original 'Madness and Suicide')
