Joseph E. LUNT, formerly of this city, died in New York on Saturday. His body will be brought here on Tuesday for interment. Mr. Lunt was a s/o late Enos LUNT who established the Express line of steam boats on the St. John River about 35 years ago and he and his brother, Reuben LUNT were associated with their father in this business. They were the owners of the beautiful steamer "Rothesay", the swiftest boat that ever sailed on the river, and also of the "Olive" and the "City of St. John", the latter being built for the Bay service. Reuben Lunt took the "Rothesay" to the St. Lawrence and afterwards to Toronto and she ran for several years on Lake Ontario. The "City of St. John" plied for some years on the Bay Chaleur, between Campbellton and Gaspe, under Joseph Lunt's management. The deceased left St. John about 10 years ago. He was about 60 years of age. One daughter, who resides in the United States, survives him.
