Melancholy Accident! Yesterday morning while John MARTIN, an apprentice to Messrs. Fraser, Masson & Co., accompanied by one or two others, was in the act of rowing a scow to the opposite side of the river, for the purpose of procuring firewood, the oar, with which he was rowing, coming in contact with one of the stakes placed near the shore opposite Moorfields, struck his breast, and precipitated him into the river, and before any assistance could be given him, he sank to rise no more. In a few hours after, his body was found and an inquest held thereon. He was a promising young man between 19 and 20 years of age and has thrown an affectionate parent and relations in the deepest distress.
