Alfred I. KIERSTEAD died at his home, Collina (Kings Co.) at an early hour Friday morn. Deceased was taken ill last Sunday eve. and complained of a sharp pain in one of his heels. He grew rapidly worse. On Tuesday morn. Dr. McIntyre of Belleisle was called in and stated that the patient was suffering from rhuematic fever. On Wednesday Mr. Kierstead had become seriously ill and Dr. Holden of St. John was sent for. He was unconscious Wednesday and part of Thursday, but regained consciousness a short time before he died. A.I. Kierstead was a temperance man and a prohobitionist. He was connected with several temperance organizations in the county. In the last session of the municipality of King Co. Mr. Kierstead fought hard for the appointment of a salaried Scott act inspector. He has been a member of the County Council since its organization, with the exception of one or two years. At the last provincial election he was on the ticket with Messrs. Gilchrist and Fowler, but suffered defeat along with his colleagues. Mr. Kierstead was twice married. His first wife was Miss McDONALD of Canaan (Queens Co.), a sister of Dr. McDONALD of Petiticodiac. His last wife, who survives him, was Miss SCOVIL of Springfield, a sister of J.M. SCOVIL and W.G. SCOVIL of St. John. By his first wife he leaves one son, Stanley KIERSTEAD, late of the firm of McKeown & Keirstead of St. John city. By this second marriage he leaves a little girl. The funeral takes place Monday 1 o'clock.
