Samuel DAY, an employee of Messrs. Scott & Lawton, met his death in a horrible manner yesterday. Between 3 and 4 o'clock in the afternoon, Mr. Day went to hang up a belt which was on the shafting of a cutting off machine used for butting clapboards. In endeavoring to knock the belt off, his had went between the belts and his arm was caught in the pulley thus dragging his body into the revolving belt. When the man fell to the floor, one of the arms was detached from the body and he was otherwise seriously injured, living only a few minutes. Mr. Day worked in the 'Telegraph' and every other office as press man. He has also been a keeper of the asylum. He had been a widower for some years and leaves a large family, most of whom are grown up. Testimonies given by John KEEFE, age 17, Dr. HARRISON, Wm LAWTON, Ruddock SMITH, John GRIFFIN.
