Five years ago Walter H. LANE s/o Walter LANE, contractor of this city, went to California, subsequently going to Seattle. For about two years his friends here were in communication with him. Suddenly young Lane ceased writing home and for three years afterwards his family and friends were unable to get any tidings of where he had gone or what was the cause of his silence. Naturally his parents became very anxious and it was thought by some members of the family that the young man had died. The other day a letter was received from an absent sister, in which she stated that she had received a letter from her brother, Walter, who, it appears, had turned up in Alaska and where it is supposed he is engaged in mining concerns.
