We learn that on Monday week, while three young men named Benjamin WILLISTON, age 15, Denis MARTIN and Joseph MURSERALL, were conveying the nets of Robert Noble & Son shore, together with Jonathan NOBLE, one of the firm, from Fox Island, the first named unfortunately lost his life. It appears that two canoes were lashed together, and in which they were employed in raising the last of the killocks When coming ashore and when about 80 yards distant therefrom when passing a shallow place, a heavy sea struck one of the canoes forward, when she immediately partially sunk. The weight of the stones her, which had shifted, kept the stern down, while the bow remained above water. This MARTIN seized and held on until rescued. NOBLE swam towards the shore and was picked up; MURSERALL struggled for some time and at last sunk, but was fortunately recovered before life was extinct and it was some time before he was resuscitated. But poor WILLISTON was drowned. About half an hour after the accident his body was discovered in about 10 feet of water only a few feet from where he could have been only knee deep. - Miramichi Gleaner.
