On Tuesday, 4th inst., in absence of Coroner of (St. John), John Jordan and Jas. Brown, Magistrates, proceeded to West Beach on the Bay Shore to hold an inquest on the bodies of John McGLOSKEY (John McCLUSKEY) and John McCULLOUGH who were drowned on the 27th September. It appeared in evidence that the two deceased with Joseph SCOTT and John CLAG, all of Saint John left Quaco on Monday eve. of 26th Sept. about 8 o'clock in an open boat to proceed to the city, and on the following day, off Beaverage's Beach, the boat upset when McGLOSKEY and McCULLOUGH were drowned. It also appeared that they had liquor in the boat and that the persons drowned were in a state of intoxication.
