The Westmorland Times states that a brutal attack was made by Thomas GAMBLE, H.M. J.P. on an old hero of the Nile, James MINER, now in his 97th year of age. MINER who lived with his daughter, a widow, and a house belonging to GAMBLE owed some rent for which GAMBLE sent a constable to distrain the furniture. The old man refused to leave an arm chair in which he was sitting. (see original)
