The appointment of Dr. George R. PARKIN, a New Brunswicker, to the Principalship of the Upper Canada College is a matter of pride to all New Brunswick and Westmorland Co. in particular, for it was in Petitcodiac that Dr. Parkin was born and received the first rudiments of his education. Dr. Parkin entered the University of N.B. in 1865 and won the Douglas Gold Medal for the best English essay during his freshman year. He was made an L.L.D. by the University in 1894. His first experience in teaching was in the grammar school at Gloucester Co. in 1871. He was appointed by the Senate of the University, Head Master of the Collegiate School at Fredericton.
