We, the undersigned, having arrived here at Miramichi, wish through the columns of your widely spread journal to express our gratitude and thanks to Capt. Henry HUTCHINSON of British Bark Lady Daly of Belfast for his humane, kind and gentlemanly treatment to us when in the greatest of distress. Also to his Chief Officer, Robert JACKSON, for we are certain that if he had not bore down to us again the second time and lay by us until the weather moderated, every soul on board must have perished, inside of 24 hours, as we dare not leave the pumps to even take refreshment, lest the ship would go down under us. (signed) by crew of ship "Alexander Edmund" of Bristol. - James SMITH, Master; Robert SMITH, Chief Officer; James SMITH, Carpenter; Charles SMITH, Boatswain - Chatham Head, 25 Aug. 1859.(See Foundering of Ship "Alexander Edmund" at Sea)
