Our citizens head with much regret of the death of Lt. Col. John ROBINSON who had been in poor health for some time, although until recently he was able to take his accustomed walk around the city. His mother was a daughter of the late Dr. PADDOCK of Kings Co. He was 65 years old. Col. Robinson was the son of the late Fred P. ROBINSON, at one time Auditor General in the Province. He was born in Douglas (York Co.) in 1825 and at the age of 21 he received a commission in the British army. He served with distinction in the Crimea and in the Indian mutiny; was in the Chinese war and participated in the celebrated assault on the Tapu forts. He wore the Victoria Cross and the Bristish, French, Turkish and Sardinian medals for service in the Crimea and the Indian medal and China medal. After his return to this country he married Mary ROBERTS, sister of Rev. G.G. ROBERTS. The funeral took place Monday afternoon. He was buried with full military honors, the Band and the entire strength of the Royal Infantry School Corps preceding the hearse. The Most Rev. Metropolitan read the lesson and Rev. Alexander conducted the exercises in the Cathedral and at the grave at Forest Hill, Fredericton. (see original for funeral procession)
