Loss of "Ada Barton" - Statement by survivors of wreck, Wm McKINNON of Halifax, N.S., James SHERIDAN of Dublin and Jas. DRISCOLL, Liverpool, England.: We left St. John, N.B. 25th Jan. ... The men who were drowned were Capt. Frank STEWART, Wilmington, Del., Geo. W. OGLER, 66, St. John, mate; Fred FULLER, 25, St. John, second mate; Wm CLEMENTS, 42, Barton, Digby, N.S., cook; John ROBERTS, 31, Bangor, England; John ROGERS, 58, Cork; John PRESTON, 20, New York; Geo. BRITT, 22, St. John; and Wm FITZPATRICK, 37, Belfast, seamen. The captain is a married man but has no family. Mr. Ogler's wife and family reside in St. John. The young man Britt lived with his mother in Lower Cove and was well known as an oarsman. Fuller also had friends residing in the city. (see original) (see also D.T. March 11, 1884 page 3 column 3)
