Glassville (Carleton Co.) - Death has again visited out neighborhood and removed another of our old settlers, Mrs. A. SCOTT widow of A. SCOTT, deceased 12 years ago. Mrs. Scott was a native of Lanarkshire, Scotland and came to St. John with her husband and family, all born in Scotland, from Roxboroughshire, in 1834. They resided in Saint John eight years. One of their son, W. SCOTT still resides there; another is in Ontario. Then they removed to Glassville where the remainder of their family, four married sons and three married daughters, are still living with their families. One daughter, the late Mrs. HUGHES, died a number of years ago. It was Mr. and Mrs. Scott's singularly good fortune to see their family all settled around the old homestead. Mrs. Scott peacefully fell asleep in Jesus in the 80th year of her age. Her remains were followed to the grave on Monday. Religious services were conducted at her house by Rev. Beairsto, Presbyterian. At the gate of the Glassville Cemetery, the funeral cortage was met by Rev. Hoyt, Episcopal of Andover who walked with Mr. Beairsto to the grave and read the burial service of the English Church over the last resting place. (see poem in Memoriam to Mrs. A. Scott, died May 20th, 1887, age 80 years by J. Home)
