Moncton (West. Co.) April 6 - Word was received in Moncton this afternoon that Constable James FARRELL of Shediac, in attempting to seize certain articles of Thomas BASTIAN of Painsec, to satisfy a Scott Act convistion, had been shot by the latter who had then put a ball through his own head, killing himself instantly. Bastian lived at Painsec Junction, just opposite the station with his wife and unmarried stepdaughter, Miss Melinda KIRWAN. Bastian was 68 and his wife 54 years old. (see original)
