A despatch from San Francisco brings the intelligence of the death of H.T. AMES in that city, 19th inst. Mr. Ames was a native of St. Andrews, eldest s/o late Nathaniel AMES. Horace, after completing his education at the Grammar School, was book keeper for Henry FRYE. He removed to St. John in 1854, was first married to Helen BERRY d/o Thomas BERRY, who died a few months afterwrds; his second wife was Miss Jessie THOMPSON of St. John. Mr. Ames owned and carried on a rope factory in that city for some time and afterwards became an insurance agent and an adjuster for several years. He removed with his family to California six years ago. He was elder of St. Stephens Presbyterian Church.
