On Tuesday the Trial of Wm. COLLINS, one of the seamen on board brig "J. Cohen" was put on trial for the murder of Francis TAYLOR. Arthur THORPE, the principal witness, was also concerned in the affray, but his testimony was given in such a manner as could not lead to conviction of COLLINS. In fact, the general impression appeared to be that THORPE was the more guilty party. The other witness was James SMITH who was lying ill in his berth at the time; his testimony, however, led to nothing conclusive. The Jury returned a verdict of 'Not Guilty'. On Wednesday THORPE was convicted of having stolen a watch from the vessel and sentenced to six months imprisonment in the Provincial Penitentiary.
