On Friday night a sad accident occurred in this town. Some persons living near the Maduxnakik, Woodstock (Carleton Co.) a short distance above the bridge on the North bank were disturbed by cries of distress. In the morn., the body of Denis O'BRIEN, an old man well known in this town for many years, who spent the greater part of his time in the lumber woods, but occasionally made a visit to the clearing, was found in the Creek partially resting on a log. The night was dark and O'BRIEN must have fallen or stepped off the bank into the stream. We are not aware that he has any relatives in the Province.
