The Bar of St. John - David Shank KERR, Esq., Q,C. - youngest s/o late Colonel KERR of the Queens Rangers, was born at Cornwallis, N.S. in 1810, was educated at St. John and Cumberland; studied law five and a half years at Dorchester, N.B. and Amherst, N.S. with the late James and Alexander STEWART, Esq.; Admitted Attorney at Halifax 1835 after passing a superior examination and an Attorney of N.B. in autumn of 1835 soon after which he joined Hon. L.A. WILMOT (now Lt. Gov.) in partnership. Called to the Bar near end of 1837. (see original)
