After a short illness, resulting perhapd from an attack of la grippe last winter, Matthew HANNAH passed away Friday, age 72. His funeral took place Sunday afternoon, Rev. John A. Clark of Milltown conducting the services. L.A. MILLS, J.B. ROBINSON, John F. GRANT and M. McGOWAN were pall bearers. Mr. Hannah was grandson of James HANNAH, one of the Loyalists from Castine who, with other members of the Penobscot Association, settled at the Ledge about the year 1786. He was a former town councillor and at one time a member of the old Iron Duke fire company. He was a designer and master builder. He leaves a widow and two sons - Dr. Osborne HANNAH of St. John and Ninian L. HANNAH of this town.
