Sunday eve, six men were coming down the St. John in a canoe and attempted to run down the rapids about 40 miles above this place known by the name of Meduknakick (ot Ingram') Falls, but unfortunately the boat upset and two of them were drowned viz., Alexander ROSS, native of Scotland whose parents are living in P.E.I. and an Irishman named POWERS.
