A cable despatch announced the death of Rev. Canon SCOVIL at Brighton, England. The deceased was the only s/o William SCOVIL, Esq., for many years Church Warden of Trinity Church, Saint John, N.B. He was ordained Deacon in 184o and priest in 1841 by late Bishop Inglis. Canon Scovil served first as curate to late Rev. Dr. Gray and subsequently was rector of Norton, which parish he resigned on his father's death to return to St. John. He acted as honorary chaplain to the Provincial Lunatic Asylum. Canon Scovil married a daughter of late Henry GILBERT, Esq., St. John. His widow and son, F.S. SCOVIL, Esq. of Brighton, England, survive him.
