Rufus F. BLACK of New Canaan (Kings Co.) left his home on business early in the morning 5th inst. with his horses and wagon. As he had to cross the river in a scow and to go some distance, he remarked to his family that he should not be home that night; but having got through with his business earlier than expected, he attempted to return, but by some unknown means was thrown out of the scow and drowned, left wife and five children.
