A day or two ago, while calling at the house of our friend, J.T. WHITLOCK, Esq., we were introduced to portraits of five generations of Loyalists. First were portraits of Thos. WHITLOCK and wife. The gentleman was an officer in the corps of Loyalists who came to St. John in 1783. He erevted the first frame building in the city, the frame of which he brought from Philadelphia. Second is a portrait of his son William WHITLOCK who married a daughter of Loyalist Samuel HALLETT. There is a portrait of his son, the late Samuel Hallett WHITLOCK. The fourth is a portrait of S.H. Whitlock's third son, our friend J.T. Whitlock and the fifth generation is represented by his niece, Jessie Hallett WHITLOCK. The little girl is sixth generation from the Loyalist on her mother's side. Her grandmother's great grandmother, Mrs. SELKIRK came from Providence, Rhode Island with her daughter and son-in-law, James CAMPBELL, a Lt. in Delancey's second battalion. They arrived in 1783 and settled at St. Andrews (Charlotte Co.) They brought with them a house frame and put it up in St. Andrews where it is still in good condition and has always been occupied.
