C.N. Skinner has in his possession a letter from an attorney-at-law in Oakland, California inquiring about Robert BEATTY, 28 or 29 years old who has been left an estate in California. The substance of the letter is that about 28 or 29 years ago, Mary Jane RYAN, a native of Nova Scotia, came to this city. She gave birth to a child which, it seems was adopted by one Robert Beatty and wife, who at that time owned property on the Marsh Road and also on Brussells St. (St. John) The child was named after Mr. Beatty. The mother of the child removed to California where she died recently, leaving an estate to the said young man. Some enquiries were made by a representative of this paper and the only information that could be had about the matter was obtained from a man named MOODY, a truckman who lives on Erin St. Mr. Moody says that his wife is an adopted daughter of Robert Beatty and wife, both of whom, he says, are now dead. Mr. Moody says he has a son named Robert Beatty MOODY who is about 28 years old and is now employed in the United States. He has written to his son informing him of the inquiries being made.
