The many friends here and elsewhere of Mrs. Chas. BURPEE of Fort Fairfield, Me. could scarcely give credence to the report heralded abroad Saturday, Jan. 27th, that on the day before her lamp of life had been extinguished. Telegrap despatches, however, to the relatives of the deceased confirmed the report and grief was the only inevitable. Her fatal sickness was only of brief duration as just two weeks previous to her funeral she had enjoyed a sleigh ride in health. Deceased was born here in 1837 and was the daughter of the late James McNALLY and Jane McNALLY. In 1878 she married Chas. BURPEE and for three years resided at Fort Fairfield. In her early life, under the ministry of Rev. Prince, she was led to the Saviour. Her remains were brought here via Woodstock and interred in the family lot in the Reformed Baptist cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. T.L. Williams, assisted by Rev. R.A. Colpitts and Rev. Corey. To her husband and only child, Archie BURPEE, her sisters, Mrs. WHITNEY and Mrs. WHITE of Ashland; Mrs. BURTT, Centreville; Mrs. TILLEY, Woodstock; Mrs. ALTERTON, Bloomfield; Mrs. HAWKINS, Millville; her brothers, William McNALLY and Moses McNALLY of Ashland and George McNALLY of Fort Fairfield, the community extends sympathy. - Comm., Johnville (Carleton Co.) Feb. 15, 1894.
