Fredericton, Dec. 29 - George CLIFF, age 45, s/o John A. CLIFF, Lower Queensbury (York Co.) dropped dead on the Miramichi road a short distance back of St. Mary's station at 11 o'clock this forenoon. Deceased had just returned from British Columbia after an absence of 15 years in the west and this morn. hired a horse and sleigh to drive over to see his brother, Wm E. CLIFF who lives up the hill in the rear of St. Mary's. He had arrived within a short distance of his brother's house when he learned that the latter was not home. In attempting to turn the sleigh on the unbroken road, the vehicle upset and one of the shafts breaking, the horse galloped off. Mr. Cliff started to run after the animal, but only got a short distance when he fell dead.
