A number of New Brunswickers who have settled in Vancouver, B.C. are doing well. In a recent civic election, one of them was elected chief magistrate of the city and another an alderman. The mayor is John HENDRY who was born in Gloucester Co. in 1844. In 1877 he laid the foundation of a large business known as the Royal City Plaining Mills of which he is now the managing director. - Referring to Ald. E.S. SCOULLAR, the 'World' says: Ald. E.S. Scoullar was born in St. John, N.B. in 1858. At the age of 19, he settled in British Columbia and established his present business as hardware merchant in the fall of 1879. He was one of the pioneer merchants of Vancouver, has been a member of council of the New Westminster board of trade since its organization. He is a member of the Hyack fire company. - Among other New Brunswickers who recently went to Vancouver to try their fortune are James S. STEEN who has a position as book keeper in the 'World' office; Hugh FINLAY, late foreman of 'The Telegraph', is employed in a printing office. Frank H. TUCK and George FRASER are also in Vancouver.
