By the death of David THOMSON, which occurred at his residence Carmarthen street, St. John yesterday, the temperance order loses one of its pillars. Mr. Thomson had been a member of the Sons of Temperance for 15 years and for five years past has been grand scribe of the Grand Division of New Brunswick. The deceased was a brother of the late Robert THOMSON and also of Wm THOMSON of Wm Thomson & Co. He was a native of Dumfries, Scotland and came to St. John when quite a young man. For a time he was book keeper for James DUNN and afterwards occupied a similar position for Vaughan Bros. He was about 60 years of age and unmarried.
