Particulars have been received of the death of Patrick BARRY of schr. "Clara" on Wednesday last. The "Clara" left Moncton on 29th Oct. for Boston under command of Capt. HALEY. On Wednesday 2nd inst., whilst off Boon Island, the deceased was at the wheel, when the mainsail jibed knocking him overboard and carrying away the wheel gear. His brother-in-law, Peter FOGARTY, who is mate of the schooner and the captain were in their bunks at the time and heard the cry 'man overboard'. They were immediately on the deck, but could see no sign of him. The deceased belonged to St. John and was on his first trip in the "Clara". He leaves a wife and five children who reside in Moncton on the corner of Wesley and Victoria streets. This calamity leaves them in very destitute circumstances. (see original)
