The sad intelligence reached Moncton yesterday afternoon of the drowning of Kenneth CAMPBELL, engine driver, in the river at Buctouche (Kent Co.) The deceased was about 21 years of age. He had been employed for some time on the Intercolonial as fireman and last winter was promoted to driver on specials. He went in bathing near the railway bridge in company with William COWLING and Irvine MURRAY of Moncton. The deceased could swim only a little and probably got beyond his death, as he was seen to throw his arms up, but sank before assistance could be rendered. Another report here was that deceased was a very fair swimmer and the opinion was that he was suddenly taken with a cramp. The body was recovered and will likely be brought to Moncton.
