St. Andrews correspondent to the 'Telegraph' - Capt. Nelson CLARKE, one of our most worthy and highly respected citizens, died at his home last night after a brief illness. The deceased gentleman was the eldest s/o late Capt. James CLARKE and Esther CLARKE and was born in St. Andrews 63 years ago and has spent all his life here. He has been engaged all his days in a seafaring life, having been engaged in the pilot business for many years and afterwards in the coasting trade. He has had command of many of the first vessels sailing out of this port and was a skillful navigator and successful ship manager. He was also at one time a large ship owner at this and other ports. He leaves surviving him his widow and five sons. George J. CLARKE, St. Stephen, barrister and editor of the 'St. Croix Courier', Capt. Nelson M. CLARKE, New York, who is command of a large vessel on a trip to the West Indies; Harold C. CLARKE, a prosperous merchant in Vancoucer, B.C. and Dr. Walter J. CLARKE who is now a prominent physician in New Yrk City and A. Vernon CLARKE, wh is studying medicine in the College of Physcians and Surgens in New York. The funeral will take place Saturday if the sons of the deceased gentleman who are residing in New York are able to reach here at that time and will be conducted with Masonic honors under the auspices of St. Mark's Lodge, F.& A.M. of which Capt. Clarke was a member.
