St. Martins (St. John) 30th June - letter from William RUDDICK, M.D., Coroner, Sir: I was called upon yesterday to investigate the cause of death of Robert TAYLOR, native of England, last seen alive on Sunday 15th inst. on his way from Quaco to Salmon River Mills with two full bottles of brandy. As he did not arrive at Salmon River, fears were excited for his safety and E.H. FOSTER, manager of that establishment, seconded by Nicholas Ennis, shut down the mills and with an immense force scoured the woods. But all their efforts were in vain until Saturday afternoon, the 29th, when their hard labor was rewarded by finding the mortal remains of poor Taylor about one half mile to the westward of William ELLIS's dwelling house lying on his back in a hollow between two trees. ... He had received in England a magnificent education and was a writer in London for several years. (see original)
