On Saturday 2nd inst., death removed one of the oldest residents of St. Stephen (Charlotte Co.), William W. GRIMMER. The early portion of Mr. Grimmer's life was spent at sea as supercargo in his father's vessels. This occupation was adopted on account of delicate health and in the hope the sea air would benefit him, which it did. After making several voyages, he retired from the sea, and in partnership with his brother, the late George S. GRIMMER, Esq., he began a general business on King street, St. Stephen. The junior partner soon abandoned this and engaged in the study of law and the business was conducted by William W. Grimmer until 1869 when he was appointed to a position on the customs staff at this port. This position he held until superannuated in June 1888. Mr. G. was the eldest of the family of John GRIMMER. Two of his brothers ahve died within two years, the late George S. and John W. GRIMMER; and two sisters survive. He leaves a widow and nine children. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon 5th inst. The remains were carried from the house to the hearse to the grave by Mr. Grimmer's sons.
