On 4th inst., William W. s/o Francis COOK, Chebogue Point, N.S. came to his death. Deceased with his father and younger brother were on Crawley's Island getting wood. The father had placed the gun, charged with duck shot, against a pile of wood with the muzzle upwards, the hammer of the gun resting on the cap. After the gun had been in the position about half an hour, deceased threw a stick of wood on the pile, which struck the gun causing it to tilt over. In falling, the hammer of the gun struck a stump and went off, the charge entering the breast of the deceased. An inquest was held before Dr. J.C. Farish, Coroner - Yarmouth Herald
