Edward SEARS died yesterday at the residence of his brother, John SEARS, 71 St. James street, St. John. He was a descendant of loyalist parents and born in the city on 20th June 1808. The greater part of his days have been spent in the city of his birth and he has amassed a considerable amount of wealth. For many years he was in partnership with his brother, the late G.D. SEARS and carried an extensive business in fur and hats on King street. It was about 40 or 50 years since he retired from the fur business. He was director of the Bank of New Brunswick and director of a Gas company and was vice-president of the Bible society. Mr. sears was married twice, but leaves no children. His first wife was Miss HATFIELD. She died many years ago and before he married the second time, some 15 years since, he made over most of his property to his nephews. His second wife, who survives him, is a daughter of W.H. VENNING, silver smith. The deceased has been an invalid for several years.
