Last eve. 8 o'clock, as Alexander GRAHAM, Steward of Messrs. D.& J. Ritchie's ship "Muscongus" was coming shore on the staging from the vessel to the wharf, one of the planks broke and he was precipitated into the river. One of the crew who was standing by at the time and heard the splash in the water, says that he only arose once to the surface and neither cried out nor made any effort to save himself, although several planks were thrown to him. Immediate search was made for the body and it was recovered about midnight. He was 22 years of age and a native of Belfast, Ireland. - 'Gleaner'
