Dr. R.R. CUNNINGHAM, dentist and Geo. FOSTER of St. John and Mr. LEONARD who resides up the St. John River near the Jemseg (Queens Co.) went out on Foshey's Lake in a bark canoe on a plover shooting expedition. The men had on heavy clothing and carried their shot pouches around their necks. The water on the lake was very rough and the men had trouble managing their frail bark. A huge wave dashed upon them, oversetting the craft and precipitating them into the water. Mr. FOSTER sank at once and never rose again to the surface. Mr. CUNNINGHAM grasped the canoe but a treacherous wave dashed it from his grasp and he, too, was drowned. Mr. LEONARD had previously relieved himself of the shot pouch and was not so heavily clothed. He sustained himself in the water until he was rescued by some persons on shore who had noticed his perilous position. Mr. FOSTER was unmarried. Mr. CUNNINGHAM has left a wife.
