Fairville (St. John) As It Is And Was - As late as 1850, Fairville proper contained less than a dozen families and fewer houses. Among the early settlers were Mrs. John REED, John WARREN, Richard TAYLOR, Thomas MOORE, Geo. LEE, Owen CULLINAN, R. AVERY, R. FAIR and Mrs. C. READY, the majority of whom came from the Emerald Isle. Perhaps as early as 1840 there was a genuine hum at Union Point, then known as Cunnivell's Point. An enterprising capitalist from Maine named Geo.
