The funeral of John W. HICKSON took place at 11 o'clock a.m. Thursday at Belleisle Corner (Kings Co.). The pall bearers were Councillor B. FAIRWEATHER, J. King KELLEY, Herbert WHITE, Roy RAYMOND, Ed. NORTHRUP, John MARVEN. The remains were removed from the residence of James KELLIER, uncle of the deceased, with whom he had lived since infancy, to Trinity church where a service was held. Rev. Lower, rector of Summerside, read the lesson and Rev. A.J. Cresswell, Rector of Springfield, delivered some appropriate remarks. At the grave, Rev. Hannington, Rector of Johnston, conducted the services. Mr. Hannington was a room-mate of the deceased at the University of New Brunswick. Rev. Hickson was only 35 years of age. The deceased was best known to the citizens of St. John from his connection with the public schools, as he was formerly principal of Winter Street School which position he resigned some years ago. Mr. Hickson graduated sixth in position from the University of N.B. in 1880. Subsequently he studied law with Charles A. Stockton and was admitted as an attorney in 1888 and called to the bar in 1889. He practiced law for a short time but gave this up to enter the Episcopal ministry. He attended the General Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. In October 1891 he was ordained a deacon and placed by the Bishop as curate in the parish of Douglas (York Co.). This year he was raised to priesthood and elected rector of the parishes of Douglas and Bright, and the same year he received the degree of M.A. from U.N.B. At Trinity church he had attended worship as a child. It was there he acted as organist and taught in the Sunday school. It was there he was confirmed and soon expected to lead his life partner to the altar. - 'Telegraph'
