On Thursday morn. at Millidgeville (St. John) John KEEFE and a son of John SAUNDERS, age 14, rowed to Jewett's mill. The boy asked how the boat was to be fastened and Keefe said that it did not need to be fast, as he would stay but a minute. Keefe threw the boat chain into the scow alongside of which the boat was and went into the mill leaving Saunders sitting in the boat. When Keefe returned, after an absence of four minutes, the boy was not there, and Keefe returned to the village alone ... But when the supper hour had passed, with the boy still missing, enquiries were made. The family instituted a search and dragged the river by the mill by torchlight. The search was resumed yesterday morn. and the body of the lad was found under the scow. Coroner Rigby held an inquest last eve. verdict - James Harvey SAUNDERS came to his death by drowning.
