Hampton (Kings Co.) March 11 - By the death of David SMITH, Esq., that occurred here, Hampton loses one of its oldest citizens. Mr. Smith was born at Smithtown in 1815 and was educated at the parish school. His father was Ebenezer SMITH, a Loyalist. His wife, who survives him, was the daughter of a prominent Loyalist, the late Monmouth FOWLER. He was appointed a justice of peace about 1850. Mr. Smith was an active member of the Methodist church, a good neighbor and a consistent temperance man and a liberal in politics. The funeral took place Sunday morn. where an able address was made by Rev. Howard. The pall bearers were William MARCH, Archie BRITTAIN, F.W. SPROUL, Charles ROBINSON, E.L. WHITTAKER and Noah BARNES. The interment took pace in the rural cemetery.
