John MILES, age 9, was drowned Thursday morn. in the St. Croix River near the mill at Dawson's Siding, Halifax, N.S. He was crossing the river to pick May flowers, and the plank turning under his feet, he fell into the water. He was carried over the falls and went down 28 feet on the rocks below, splitting his forehead open. His body was found half an hour later under some edgings where it had floated.
