After an illness of eight months, Rev. Jacob GUNTER died at his residence Pheonix Square, Fredericton on Sunday afternoon, 85th year. He was born 28th Oct. 1805. His birthplace was Waterborough (Queens Co.) and he had been a minister of the Free Christian Baptist denomination over fifty years. The only surviving member of the family, of which there were nine, is Andrew GUNTER of Queensbury (York Co.) He leaves one daughter, Mrs. M. TENNANT and two sons, George I. GUNTER and Charles GUNTER, both of Fredericton city. The remains were taken by steamer to Upper Gagetown yesterday morn. accompanied by members of the family and deposited alongside his wife who died about eight years ago. Rev. Dr. McLeod, J. Shenton and F.D. Crawley assisted in the exercises in the house previous to leaving for the boat.
