Henry T. STEVENS was born in May 1840. He was educated at Harvey grammar school and at the Horton academy and college. He taught school for some years and then went into the newspaper business. He ran the 'Advocate' in Albert Co. for a time and in 1868 he removed to Moncton and established the 'Times' which he managed ever since, and which in 1877 was changed to a morning paper. His present wife is a daughter of the late David CALDWELL of St. John. He in 1867 he was an unsuccessful candidate from Albert Co. for the Commons. He was mayor of Moncton for three years and was also a councillor. A Conservative, opposed to the Blair government. Baptist.
